Brookview Recreation PARK
About the project
Since 1991, the Brookview Outdoor Rink has been a cornerstone of our neighbourhood. Today, with the support of local residents, the City of Edmonton, the Province of Alberta, and generous partners like the Brookview Home Owners' Association, we are transforming it into a vibrant, year-round recreation park.

We invite you to join us in supporting this exciting community project as we move through the final stages of development.
PHASE ONE *in progress*
We are currently building a new concrete rink surface with durable dasher boards and fencing. In winter, it will support ice hockey and family skating. In warmer months, it will be used for basketball, pickleball, lacrosse, ball hockey, badminton, and community events. Upgrades include LED lighting, improved drainage, and a skating-only loop.

PHASE TWO
This phase focuses on creating an accessible outdoor area with seating, tree hugger benches, shaded spaces, pathways, landscaping, and a flexible staging area for events and programs. Additional enhancements include a potential security system and covered player boxes to improve safety and usability.
FUTURE ASPIRATIONS

We are exploring the possibility of adding a roof in the future. A roof would greatly increase the rink’s functionality year-round. In winter, it would help preserve the ice surface by minimizing sun exposure and reducing snow accumulation. In summer, a roof would provide shade and protection from rain, making the rink a more versatile and comfortable space for sports and community gatherings. If funding allows, the roof would be a major step forward in maximizing the long-term use of this community space.
